A native of Syracuse, New York, Dr. Bilbo received his B.A. Degree in Chemistry from Colgate University and then completed graduate work in Biochemistry and his M.D. Degree from the State University of New York, Upstate Medical Center, in Syracuse, New York. Postgraduate training then included two years of General Surgery Residency and four years of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Dr. Bilbo is on staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, the St. Luke Hospitals, and Health South and Gateway Rehabilitative Hospitals. He has served in various medical staff leadership roles at these institutions. Dr. Bilbo is a member of many local and national medical societies.
Dr. Bilbo has a long standing relationship with many educational institutions in our community. He is a Clinical Instructor in Orthopaedic Surgery for the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Family Practice Residency Program and helped educate many of the physicians in our community. He has been Head Team Physician and Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northern Kentucky University since 1986 and in 2003 was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in recognition of his service to the University. At Northern Kentucky University, he also serves as Medical Director of the Athletic Training and Sports Medicine Curriculum Program. He serves as an Orthopaedic Consultant for Thomas More College and many area high schools. He frequently lectures to the Northern Kentucky community on Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine related topics.
Dr. Bilbo shares in the general orthopaedic care of Commonwealth Orthopaedic Centers but specializes in Sports Medicine and treatment of disorders of the knee and shoulder. That specialization includes arthroscopic surgery, ligament reconstructive surgery and joint replacement surgery.
