A native of Michigan, Dr. DesJardins received his B.S. from the University of Michigan and completed medical school at Wayne State University. After completing residency training in family medicine at Wake Forest University, his interest in athletic medicine led him to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the University of Utah. He served as a physician for the 2002 Winter Olympics and as a team doctor for The University of Utah. Dr. DesJardins is board certified and holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of multiple professional societies and currently serves on the sports medicine advisory committee to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association. He is a consultant to the Northern Kentucky University Athletic Department and volunteers as the team physician for Covington Catholic High School.
Dr. DesJardins specializes in the non-surgical treatment of athletic injuries and problems in patients of all ages. This includes acute treatment, recovery, rehabilitation, safe return to sport and injury prevention. He sees patients for general orthopaedic problems including fractures, arthritis and joint pain. Dr. DesJardins is also one of Commonwealth’s experts in spine-related disorders. He utilizes a comprehensive approach to spine injury including advanced spinal injections to aid recovery and treat pain.
