Following graduation from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine , Dr. Gates completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Mt. Carmel Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He then completed a fellowship in Foot and Ankle Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. His is the only orthopaedic surgeon in Northern Kentucky who specialized in foot and ankle. His is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society. His practice has been dedicated to reconstruction and sports medicine of the foot and ankle since 1998.
He is on staff at St. Elizabeth Medical Center and St. Luke Hospital. He is the foot and ankle consultant for Thomas More College athletes and many area high school athletes. His practice includes ankle arthroscopy and total ankle replacement.
